Trade Mission to Mexico totals 1 million dollars in immediate deals

The Brazilian natural stone industry celebrated a milestone on August 09 and 10, when 12 companies participated in a trade mission to Mexico, totaling USD 1 million in immediate business deals and USD 3 million in expected deals over the 12 upcoming months. The results were obtained during meetings held through It’s Natural – Brazilian Natural Stone, a program to promote exports of Brazilian natural stones.

An unprecedented initiative in the segment, the action was promoted by the Brazilian Center of Natural Stone Exporters (Centrorochas) and by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil). It also included a seminar at the Embassy of Brazil in the country. The entrepreneurs were welcomed by Minister Luciano da Costa Pereira de Souza, who, representing the Ambassador of Brazil in Mexico, Fernando Estellita Lins de Salvo Coimbra, declared that the embassy was available to the Brazilian stone industry. The head of the Embassy’s trade sector (Secom), Pedro Luiz do Nascimento Filho, detailed how the embassy can help Brazilian companies. The meeting ended with a presentation by economist Alejando Olvera Moya, who outlined the country’s economic scenario and future perspectives.

There were more than 130 business negotiation meetings. The model pleased Brazilian companies involved in the action. Participating directly in an event abroad for the first time, entrepreneur Cristiani Minet, from Minete Pedras, approved the action and has already expressed interest in upcoming opportunities.

The sales executive of Granos Granitos, Lucas Mesquita, said that he is “looking forward to the next negotiation meetings to come!” Mexican buyer Gina Ponzanelli, from Ponzanelli Marmoles, was satisfied with the result: “The event was excellent, very well organized. I had the opportunity to establish several contacts,” she added.

Heterogeneous, the group included large- and medium-sized companies from Brazilian states such as Ceará, Espírito Santo and Rio Grande do Sul. They are: Angramar, Basalto São Cristóvão, Brumagran, Cajugram, Comil Cotaxé, Decolores, Granos, Magban, Marbrasa, Mineração Borchardt, Minete Pedras and Nova Aurora.
